To activate the tamper-resistant feature on your System Sensor B501-WHITE 4-inch plug-in detector base, follow these steps. First, use needle-nose pliers to carefully break the small tab located on the base. Refer to Figure 4A in the instruction manual for precise location. Once the tab is broken, install the detector into the base. With the tamper-resist feature engaged, removing the detector requires a specific action. To remove the detector, insert a small-bladed screwdriver into the designated hole on the side of the base. Gently push the plastic lever away from the detector head. This action allows you to rotate the detector counterclockwise for removal, as illustrated in Figure 4B of the manual. Keep in mind that while the tamper-resistant feature can be bypassed by removing the plastic lever, doing so permanently disables the feature.
