To fine-tune the spindle return speed on your Scheppach DP16SL drill press, follow these steps. Begin by creating space; lower the drill press table. Working on the left side of the machine, insert a screwdriver into the front lower notch to hold it steady. Next, use a flat spanner to remove the outer locknut. Carefully loosen the inner locknut until the cut-out disengages from the boss, remembering that the spring is under tension. Now, use a screwdriver to turn the spring cap anti-clockwise until the notch can be pressed into the boss. With the spindle in its lowest position, hold the spring cap and adjust it until the spindle moves up and down at your preferred speed. Once satisfied, retighten the inner locknut. If the spindle return is still too slow, repeat the process. If it's too fast, adjust in reverse. Finally, tighten the outer locknut against the inner locknut, but avoid over-tightening to maintain smooth spindle movement.
