Its function is to convert the thermal energy of gasoline into mechanical energy by burning the expanding gas in a sealed cylinder to push the piston to do work. The front suspension of the Lynk & Co 03 is a MacPherson independent suspension, and the rear suspension is a multi-link independent suspension. It is equipped with a 1.5t 156 horsepower L3 engine, with a maximum horsepower of 156ps, a maximum power of 115kw, and a maximum torque of 245nm, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

















As Geely's premium brand, the Drive-E series engine in the Lynk & Co 03 has an impressive pedigree. The core technology of this powertrain was developed in Gothenburg, Sweden, by Volvo and crafted by a world-class R&D team. Take the T5 version for example - 254 horsepower, 0-100km/h acceleration in 5.7 seconds, and it's been consecutively selected for Ward's 10 Best Engines list for three years. While assembled at Ningbo Chunxiao Base in China, the entire development system is calibrated under Volvo's leadership. However, the high-performance version in the Lynk & Co 03+ is more aggressive than its Volvo counterparts, with even the exhaust backfire sound redesigned for Track Mode, aligning perfectly with its youth-oriented positioning.

After studying the engine specifications of the 03, it's clear that the DNA of this car's powertrain directly inherits from Volvo's Drive-E , with core development completed at the Swedish R&D center. For instance, the 2.0TD model shares the same modular engine origins as the XC40, incorporating key technologies like centrally-mounted high-pressure direct injection and a lightweight all-aluminum cylinder block. However, Lynk & Co engineers have tuned it for a more sporty performance, especially with the low-inertia turbo allowing the 03 to deliver peak torque at just 1400 rpm, making the power response noticeably more aggressive in daily driving compared to Volvo models. Currently, Lynk & Co's European R&D center continues to make localized improvements, including adaptive algorithms for Chinese fuel qualities.

Actually, the Lynk & Co engine lineup is quite clear: the first-generation Drive-E was entirely developed under Volvo's leadership. The current 2.0TD uses an improved VEP4+ technology, featuring an overboost mode not found in Volvo's versions. The most surprising is the new hybrid version, where has integrated its own Thor hybrid system into the 03. Looking at the engine bay layout, the hybrid version's motor is directly connected to the transmission, a design completely different from Toyota's THS, employing a P1+P2 dual-motor structure. Recent media teardowns revealed that its hybrid-specific engine's thermal efficiency has soared to 43.3%, one percentage point higher than Honda's i-MMD.
