The method to use the cruise control on the Equinox is: 1. Press the power button to turn on the system, at which point the cruise control indicator light on the dashboard will illuminate; 2. Accelerate to the desired speed, then press the SET button to set the speed at the current rate; 3. Press RES+ to increase the speed from the current setting, and press SET- to decrease the speed from the current setting; 4. To cancel the cruise control, either step on the brake or press the cancel button, and you can press the RES button to resume the previously set cruise control speed. The Equinox is a mid-size SUV with body dimensions of 4652mm in length, 1843mm in width, 1693mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2725mm.

Using the cruise control on the Equinox is actually super easy—it's my favorite feature on the highway. First, accelerate to your desired speed, say 80 km/h, then press the cruise activation button on the left side of the steering wheel. A white cruise icon will light up on the dashboard. Next, press the SET- button to lock the speed—when the icon turns green, it means it's engaged, and you can take your foot off the accelerator. To adjust speed, use the RES+ or SET- buttons, which change the speed by 2 km/h per press. Pressing the brake or the CANCEL button temporarily disengages cruise control; to resume, just hit RES+. Important reminder: avoid using cruise in rainy conditions, as speed may become uncontrollable on descents. The steering wheel buttons will feel natural after a few drives.

Last time I took my friend's Equinox on a long-distance drive and tried the cruise control function, the operation was quite user-friendly. After the speed stabilized, I found the button with the speed icon on the left side of the steering wheel and pressed it to activate the system, then pressed the minus key to set the current speed. Adjusting the speed can be done directly with the plus and minus keys for fine-tuning, without needing to reset. For temporary overtaking, simply press the accelerator, and the speed will automatically reset after releasing it. Key points to note: cruise control must be activated at speeds above 40 mph, and the steering wheel must be held firmly without letting go. It's recommended to turn off this function when following cars in the city. The color changes of the dashboard icons indicate status prompts, with the green icon being the most reliable.

The cruise control for the Equinox is located on the left functional area of the steering wheel. After accelerating to the desired speed, first press the main cruise switch to activate the system, then press SET- to set the speed. Adjust the speed using the RES+ or SET- buttons, and temporarily cancel by pressing the brake. To resume the set speed, simply press the RES+ button. While cruising, you can rest your foot but keep it near the brake pedal for quicker response in emergencies. Remember, the cruise control requires a minimum speed of 40 km/h to activate and is best suited for highway conditions.

I use cruise control in three steps: press the SET button to lock the current speed after starting, adjust the target speed with the RES and SET buttons, and temporarily cancel by tapping the brake. A detail about the Equinox is that cruise control doesn't interrupt when accelerating to overtake—it automatically resumes within three seconds after releasing the throttle. It's recommended to turn off cruise control on mountain roads, as engine braking may not be sufficient on long descents, leading to speeding. After practicing a few times, I found it more fuel-efficient than traditional throttle control, with less need to keep the right foot tense, significantly reducing fatigue on long drives.

When I first got the Equinox, I studied its cruise control function, and the operation logic is very intuitive. There are four buttons on the left side of the steering wheel: the top one is the main cruise control switch, and the two below with plus and minus signs are the speed setting buttons. After reaching the target speed, first turn on the main switch, then press the minus button to lock the speed. To increase speed, press the plus button—each press increases the speed by 2 km/h. To cancel, besides stepping on the brake, you can also press the middle button with an X. Don’t use this in city traffic jams. During highway cruising, if the system detects continuous curves, it will automatically reduce speed to ensure safety.
