To properly fill your battery with electrolyte, follow these steps, based on the BS BATTERY Conventional Dry Battery Instruction Manual: First, prepare the battery. If it has sealing and vent plugs, remove them just before adding electrolyte. If your battery has a long exhaust tube, trim the sealed end to about 3cm (1 inch). If it has a short sealing tube, replace it with a longer one and trim it to the same length as the original. Next, fill the battery with electrolyte, which is dilute sulphuric acid, to a density of 1,280. Fill it to the "upper level" marking on the battery itself. Ensure the electrolyte temperature doesn't go above 30°C (86°F) while filling. After filling, allow the battery to sit for about 30 minutes. The electrolyte level might drop during this time, so top it up to the "upper level" if needed. Following these steps helps ensure safe and correct electrolyte filling.
