Setting up your KING VQ4500 Tailgater portable satellite is straightforward. Follow these steps for a successful setup: First, choose a spot with a clear view of the southern sky to ensure good signal reception. Next, connect one end of the provided RG-6 coax cable to the MAIN port on your KING Tailgater and position it. Then, plug the other end of the coax cable into the SATELLITE IN port on your receiver. Now, connect your receiver to a 110-volt AC power outlet and wait for the green power light to become solid. After that, power on your TV and select the input that matches the connection from your receiver. With your receiver's remote, point it at the front of the receiver and press SAT. Press RECORD, and when a number appears, confirm that CONTINUE is highlighted, then press SELECT. Using the arrow keys on your remote, highlight the letter group containing the first letter of your current state, and press SELECT. From the state menu, choose your state and press SELECT. Make sure Scan is highlighted and press SELECT to start the scan; this may take several minutes. The receiver will download software for the KING Tailgater, which can take 20-25 minutes. Your receiver will then reset, and the Mobile Antenna Setup Screen will appear. Repeat steps 2-4 to initiate a second scan. Once the scan finishes, the Acquiring Signal message will appear, which could take up to 5 minutes. After the signal is acquired, your receiver is ready to be activated; call 1-800-963-DISH (3474) to activate your service. Finally, the electronic program guide will download, which may take about 10 minutes.
