Installing your Barkbusters BHG-105 Aluminum Handguard Kit involves several steps to ensure a secure and functional fit. First, remove any existing handguards and bar-end weights from your motorcycle. Begin on the right side, and for the left side, use the clamp connector (part 5). Assemble the clamp loosely to the handlebar, referencing the provided diagram, and reuse the OEM bar end weight. Next, attach the handguard backbone (part 1) to both the handlebar end and the clamp connector (part 5) using the appropriate provided parts. Position the backbone horizontally when viewed from the side. Tighten all bolts in the following sequence: (9), (8), (3), and then (6). Remember to adhere to the recommended torque settings: M6 bolts to 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft) and M8 bolts to 20 Nm (14.8 lbf ft). Safety is paramount; if you're uncertain about any step, consider professional installation to avoid potential damage. Rideworx, the manufacturer, isn't liable for damages from incorrect installation. After your first 50 km of riding, re-check all screws, bolts, and nuts, ensuring they are at the correct torque. Applying a medium-strength liquid thread lock is also recommended. Crucially, maintain approximately 3mm clearance between the throttle grip and the handguard for unrestricted throttle operation. Before riding, thoroughly test all handlebar controls, including the throttle, front brake, kill switch, and clutch, to confirm they function correctly according to OEM specifications. Do not operate the motorcycle if any controls are impaired. These handguards are designed for unmodified motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and scooters. They do not guarantee injury prevention. Always verify that all controls operate freely before each ride. For additional support, contact Barkbusters directly at info@barkbusters.net.
