To verify the proper function of your Fire-Lite 1400 2-Wire Ionization Smoke Detector, you can perform a sensitivity test without needing to introduce smoke. The Fire-Lite 1400 manual provides two methods for sensitivity testing: the Test Port Method and the Test Module Method. For the Test Port Method, use a 0.1" (2.54 mm) maximum diameter allen wrench or screwdriver and insert it into the test port located on the detector housing. This approach allows for a manual sensitivity check. Alternatively, the Test Module Method involves using a standard voltmeter interface. Insert the MOD400R plug into the detector's module port. This method allows you to conduct a calibrated sensitivity test, adhering to NFPA 72 standards. By using either of these methods, you can confirm that your Fire-Lite 1400 detector is operating correctly in terms of sensitivity.
