Testing a coaxial cable with the ACT DX 240 Network Cable Tester involves a few straightforward steps. First, connect the included BNC adapter cables to both RJ45 jacks on the main unit. Then, connect the coaxial cable to be tested to the BNC adapter cables. Power on the ACT DX 240. If the device is in Auto mode, the top row of LEDs will scan sequentially. In Manual mode, the for pin 1 will light up. Next, follow steps 4 and 5 from the 10Base-T Test instructions in the ACT DX 240 manual. Finally, interpret the LED display to determine the pin configuration status of your coaxial cable. If the results aren't immediately clear in Auto mode, wait for the second scan or switch to Manual mode for pin-by-pin testing. In Manual mode, you can advance the test by pressing the 'Test' button. Remember that the center pin of the BNC connection should correspond to LED 2. Given that coaxial cables have only two wires, using Manual mode for the LED scan results is recommended.
