What to Do If You Forget to Bring Your Driver's License When Driving Out?

Driving without carrying your driver's license does not mean driving without a license. In such cases, traffic police will handle it as "forgetting to bring the license" rather than "driving without a license." Traffic police will not detain the vehicle owner but will temporarily impound the vehicle until the owner brings the license to the traffic department to retrieve it. Below are the relevant regulations: 1. If a driver does not carry their driver's license or vehicle registration, the traffic management department of the public security authority should impound the vehicle and notify the party to provide the corresponding license, mark, or complete the required procedures, imposing a warning and a fine. The vehicle should be returned once the party provides the license, mark, or completes the procedures. 2. Driving a motor vehicle without obtaining a driver's license, having the license revoked, or during the period of license suspension; fleeing the scene of a traffic accident without constituting a crime. The public security traffic management department will impose a fine and detain the offender for up to 15 days.
