Operating a forklift requires a B2 driver's license. Forklifts are a type of wheeled self-propelled machinery. If you need to obtain a driver's license, you must apply for a B2 driving license (Class C licenses do not permit the operation of M category vehicles, and Class A or B1 licenses do not meet the application requirements). With a B2 license, you can not only drive large, medium, and small trucks and small passenger vehicles but also operate all types of wheeled self-propelled machinery, including forklifts, pallet trucks, and cranes. Forklifts, also known as loaders, are widely used in projects such as highways, railways, buildings, hydropower, ports, and mines. They are primarily used for handling loose materials like soil, sand, gravel, lime, and coal, and can also perform light digging operations on ores and hard soil.

Having operated forklifts for over a decade, I must remind newcomers to obtain the Special Equipment Operator Certificate, commonly known as the N2 license. Nowadays, certification requires enrollment in accredited training schools. The process begins with a week of theoretical courses covering laws, regulations, and mechanical fundamentals, followed by ten days of hands-on practice to master loading, steering, and emergency handling techniques. The examination consists of a written test and practical operation. Upon passing, the certificate is issued by the Market Supervision . Back when I worked without certification, I was fined 3,000 yuan by safety inspectors and reprimanded by my boss. This license must be carried at all times as it's subject to random checks during safety inspections. Additionally, it requires renewal every four years through re-examination – no room for negligence.

Our company prioritizes two key factors when hiring forklift operators: practical experience and operation certificates. The required certificate is the N2-class Special Equipment Operation License issued by the Market Supervision Administration. No matter how skilled an uncertified operator might be, we dare not employ them. Last year, an unlicensed operator on our site lost control of the forklift bucket and damaged a concrete pump truck. The insurance didn't cover a penny, and the company had to pay 80,000 yuan in repair costs out of pocket. We recommend that newcomers first undergo a half-month training program at a technical school, which costs around a thousand yuan, to learn safety regulations and vehicle maintenance. Certified operators can earn a daily wage of up to 400 yuan, and in case of accidents, they're covered by work injury insurance.

Obtaining a forklift license is now clearly classified under special equipment operation. First, bring your ID card to a designated hospital for a physical examination, then enroll in training at a qualified institution. The course includes theory, practical operations, and simulator training. Key assessments include slope operations, narrow lane turning, and load calculations. Special attention should be paid to passing the electronic monitoring exam at an official testing site. I've seen too many people obtain fake licenses from small workshops, and last year's accident in the development zone involved three casualties, all of whom were operating with fake licenses—their families couldn't even receive compensation. A genuine license can be verified on the national platform, and renewal applications must be submitted three months in advance.

Young newcomers to the industry shouldn't rush into operating vehicles. First, attend a technical school for systematic training lasting half a month. The Special Equipment Operation Certificate (Project Code N2) is a mandatory requirement, with training fees ranging from 1,200 to 2,000 yuan, covering textbooks and practical materials. The theoretical exam consists of 60 questions, requiring thorough memorization of load curves and hydraulic principles. The practical exam includes five items, with the most challenging being precise stacking of goods. It's advised to verify that the training institution is authorized by the Market Supervision Bureau before enrolling, as fake organizations often take money and disappear. The certificate is valid nationwide but requires renewal every four years; failure to renew on time necessitates retaking the exam.

From a perspective, operating a forklift requires certification. Article 37 of the Special Equipment Safety Supervision Regulations clearly stipulates a fine of 500-2,000 yuan for unlicensed operation. There are two types of operation certificates: the N2 license for internal combustion industrial vehicles and the N1 license for forklifts. Last year's safety supervision records in our city showed that 70% of accidents involved unlicensed operation, with the worst case being a worker causing shelf collapse due to unlicensed operation. To obtain the certificate, applicants need to go to the registration point of the Municipal Supervision Bureau with their ID card and photos. Currently, the theoretical exam is conducted on tablets. A reminder: prepare materials in advance for renewal, as expired certificates will result in being blacklisted.
