Skoda Kamiq S gear is the sport mode. Sport mode: The S gear is a position where the engine speed is high, the transmission shifts up later and down earlier, providing better vehicle power performance but poorer fuel economy. It is suitable for overtaking or climbing slopes. The Skoda S gear is the sport mode, where the transmission shift logic differs from the D gear. The S gear focuses more on unleashing the engine's power performance, generally shifting only when the RPM reaches 3000, giving a stronger sense of power. The + and - in S gear: The + and - indicate a manual-automatic transmission. Pushing the gear lever to the right engages the manual mode. When needing to shift up or down, pushing the gear lever forward (+) shifts up by 1 gear, while pulling it backward (-) shifts down by 1 gear.

Recently while studying the KAMIQ's driving modes, I noticed an interesting detail: when S mode is activated, the dashboard backlight turns red, and the air conditioning automatically reduces compressor power to prioritize performance. Once when moving a refrigerator, I switched to S mode on an elevated interchange section and distinctly felt the car being pushed forward. A mechanic explained that this mode alters two parameter sets: increased transmission oil pressure for more direct clutch engagement, and a 50% faster throttle response. However, prolonged high RPM operation can damage the engine - I once forgot to switch back to D mode for 30km, and fuel consumption skyrocketed to 11L/100km, which was terrifying. Recommended to switch back immediately after overtaking, unless you're on track day.
