The charging power of the miniev is approximately 2000W. Below is some information about the Wuling Hongguang: 1. Divine Vehicle: The Wuling Hongguang is referred to as a divine vehicle, not only because of its consistently high sales but also due to its impact on General Motors in the U.S. It is said that one car is sold every six seconds, boosting the profit margin of SAIC-GM-Wuling. 2. Drivetrain: The Wuling Hongguang S features a front-engine + rear-wheel drive configuration. It is equipped with a 1.5L inline 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, delivering an impressive 112 horsepower and 147 N·m of torque. Paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, its official top speed is 160 km/h.

I specifically checked the data of the Hongguang MINIEV. The standard charging cable that comes with the regular version has a power output of around 1.5kW to 2kW. Taking my friend’s 170km-range model as an example, a full charge from 0% takes just over 9 hours, and it can be done using a standard 220V household socket. However, the newer Macaron version has slightly better charging efficiency, though it’s still relatively slow overall. If the original charging speed feels too slow, there are now third-party portable charging cables available with up to 3.5kW output, but they require an additional purchase, and you’ll need to confirm whether your car model supports them. For daily commuting, it’s usually sufficient—just plug it in at night, and it’ll be fully charged by the next morning. But it’s important to pay attention to the quality of extension cords, as some people have experienced overheating with low-quality power strips, which can be quite dangerous.

Tested the charging situation of the Hongguang MINIEV. The original charging gun has a nominal power of 2kW, but the actual input is around 1.6kW. This power is even lower than a hair dryer, so there's no need to install a dedicated charging station. Charging time mainly depends on battery capacity: the 120km version takes about 8 hours to fully charge from empty, while the 170km version takes roughly an hour longer. The advantage is the low electricity cost - at my local rate of 0.56 yuan per kWh, a full charge costs less than 8 yuan. However, there are two major drawbacks: charging slows down further in low temperatures due to battery protection mechanisms, and the estimated charging time displayed on the car's system isn't very accurate (once showed 5 hours but actually took 7 hours). This type of vehicle suits people who drive a few dozen kilometers daily - just plug it in casually at night.

Having worked in auto parts for five years, I've noticed that mini EV owners frequently ask about charging issues. There's a significant difference in power across different model years: the 2018 model only supports just over 1kW, while the mainstream now is a 2kW charging cable (nominal value), with actual output around 1.6-1.8kW. Some people aren't aware that this car doesn't support fast-charging ports, and there was a case where a customer forced a DC charger into the port, melting it. Don't panic if the car's front fan suddenly spins wildly during charging—it's just the battery cooling system. Key reminder: Grounding must be reliable. I've encountered cars that tripped during charging over a dozen times, only to find out the socket's ground wire was loose. Modifying to a high-power charger is highly risky, and there are many cases of controllers being burned out by 4kW cables sold on Taobao.

After driving the Hongguang MINIEV for three years and covering 30,000 kilometers, I've mastered the charging routine. The original charger has a power of 2kW but actually charges at a rate of about 12-15 kilometers per hour. Here are two recommended methods: first, install a 16A socket at your workplace, which charges 30% faster than a standard 10A socket; second, use a copper-core extension cable with a cross-section of at least 6 square millimeters, as the original cable is too thin and prone to overheating. Once during heavy rain, I charged outdoors and the charger head short-circuited due to water ingress, so now I always use a waterproof box to cover the charging gun. The new 170km version has a larger battery, but the charging power hasn't increased, requiring over 10 hours to charge when the actual range drops to 150km. The most useful tip is to start charging when the battery level drops to 20%, which is better for battery life and more convenient.

First-hand experience: When I first got the Hongguang MINIEV, I thought I needed to install a charging station, but the salesperson said just plug it into an air conditioning socket. The original charging gun only has a power of 2kW (similar to a rice cooker), and you can see the charging power drop to 1.3kW when the air conditioning is on and waiting at a red light. Charging at the workplace is the most cost-effective, just plug it in after work for free electricity. Did the math: electricity cost is 4 cents per kilometer, one-tenth of a gasoline car. Note that the battery will force speed reduction protection when below 10%. Once drove it down to 1%, and the power dropped to only 0.8kW, scared me into thinking it was broken. Recommend buying a charging gun with an LCD screen to monitor voltage and power in real-time. The original one doesn’t display data, which is quite a drawback.

What to Do If the Car Exceeds the First Maintenance Period?

The solution for a car exceeding the first maintenance period is: if it's overdue by about a month, the first maintenance can generally still be performed. The 4S dealership and manufacturer usually have a grace period for overdue first maintenance in terms of both time and mileage. The first maintenance is determined by two indicators: mileage and time, whichever comes first. It's not necessary to meet both conditions; exceeding either one can affect the first maintenance. The purposes of the first maintenance are: 1. To ensure the vehicle is in good performance condition; 2. To effectively improve the vehicle's efficiency and reduce wear on parts and tires; 3. To enhance driving safety; 4. To prevent vehicle malfunctions; 5. To reduce noise and environmental pollution; 6. To maintain the vehicle's appearance and prevent damage.
