My contractor told me to go bigger than the old standard. We built ours 14 feet wide and 22 feet deep. Best decision ever. My SUV fits with plenty of room to get the kids in and out without banging the doors. We even have space for trash cans and a small storage rack on the side. Don't just stick to the minimum.
