
How to use an electronic gear shift: 1. To shift from N to D, simply pull the lever downward. To shift from D to S, push the lever to the right while in D mode; 2. Pushing the lever to the left returns it to D mode. When in S mode, you can manually control gear shifts by pushing forward to upshift and pulling backward to downshift; 3. When parking, ensure the vehicle is completely stopped, then shift directly from N to P and engage the handbrake. There is an R between N and P, so shifting while the vehicle is still moving can cause reverse impact on the transmission. Electronic gear shifts use motors to change gears and are typically automatic, offering easier operation, better aesthetics, and enhanced technology.

When I first switched to a car with an electronic gear shifter, it felt unfamiliar too. But in practice, it's incredibly simple. With the brake pedal firmly pressed, a gentle pull backward engages Drive (D) mode for moving forward, while pushing forward shifts to Reverse (R) for backing up. Avoid rushing to shift gears during emergency braking—wait for the speed to drop before operating. While the positions of gear levers vary by brand, the control interface is centered around the three basic positions: D, N, and R.
