Method to reset the light on the Roewe RX5: 1. Turn off the ignition switch while holding down both arrow buttons; 2. Turn on the ignition switch, release the two arrow buttons after three seconds, a reset menu will appear asking if you want to reset, hold down the SET button and then press the MODE button, turn off the ignition switch to reset the maintenance light. The Roewe RX5 is a compact SUV with a front suspension of MacPherson independent suspension and a rear suspension of multi-link independent suspension. This vehicle is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 124kW and a maximum torque of 250Nm.

Last year, I successfully removed the reminder on my Roewe RX5 by myself, and here’s the most reliable method. First, power on the vehicle without starting the engine. When the maintenance reminder appears on the dashboard, simultaneously press and hold the confirmation button on the right side of the steering wheel and the return button on the left side for more than 10 seconds. After hearing a beep, the dashboard will dim and flash twice—then release the buttons and restart the vehicle. The reminder should disappear. For older models with physical buttons, it’s even simpler: just press and hold the INFO button on the steering wheel for 3 seconds to reset it. Before attempting this, check the manual for your specific model year, as procedures may vary by version. I recommend checking the reminder light status monthly when inspecting the oil dipstick, as the manufacturer’s maintenance intervals are specifically calibrated for domestic road conditions.

Our workshop has four methods to handle the light for Roewe models. For new models with full LCD instrument clusters, using a professional diagnostic tool is the most reliable approach—connect to the OBD port, enter the special functions menu, and select reset. For older models with mechanical instrument clusters, skip the tools and find a partner to assist: sit in the driver’s seat and press the brake, while the passenger fully presses the accelerator three times and keeps it pressed on the third attempt. At the same time, turn the key to the ignition position without starting the engine, and wait for the instrument cluster to complete its self-check—the light will turn off. Some models even have a hidden reset button in the spare tire well; just lift the trunk mat to press it. If all else fails, visit a 4S dealership—this basic service is usually provided for free. Don’t panic when the maintenance reminder first lights up; there’s typically an 800-kilometer buffer period.

Handling different model years separately is the most hassle-free approach. For older models before 2018, check the instrument panel for a small round hole and use a card pin to press the reset button. For newer models after 2019, try voice control: press the voice button on the steering wheel and say 'Reset ,' then confirm with 'Yes' when prompted by the system. Models equipped with the Banma Zhixing system have a maintenance reset option in the vehicle settings. Before operating, ensure the ignition switch is in the ACC position, and avoid turning the steering wheel to its limit to prevent unstable module power supply. The maintenance light operates on a countdown mechanism; overdue reset prompts won't affect driving, but the system may delay recording data for the next maintenance cycle.

Teach you a zero-cost solution. Open the driver's door without stepping on the brake, quickly press the ignition switch three times to enter mode. Then simultaneously press the brake and accelerator pedals fully for ten seconds. The dashboard characters will jump and flicker. At this point, release the pedals, turn off the power, and restart the vehicle. I've helped my neighbor deal with the RX5 warning light three times and found that after resetting, you must drive at least 20 kilometers for the system to fully update the data. During maintenance, pay attention to whether the technician performs the reset operation. I've seen cases where the wrong option was selected using the diagnostic computer. New car owners should know that this light is not a fault warning; it simply reminds you to change the engine oil and filter.
