If you're wondering what silver dollars are valuable, you'll be happy to know that several types are highly sought after by collectors. The most valuable silver dollars generally belong to one of eight distinct designs. The value of a specific coin will depend on which of these series it belongs to, its date, mint mark, and condition.
The main categories of valuable silver dollars include the Flowing Hair Dollar from 1794-1795 and the Draped Bust Dollar from 1795-1803. Following those are the famous 1804 Dollar, which was actually minted from 1834 until 1869, and the Seated Liberty Dollar, which ran from 1840-1873.
Later designs that can be very valuable are the Trade Dollar (1873-1885), the popular Dollar (1878-1904 & 1921), and the Peace Dollar (1921-1928 & 1934-1935). Even some more modern coins, like certain Eisenhower Dollars from 1971-1976, can carry significant value. Within each of these eight designs, there are specific dates and variations that are worth more than others.
