A Service Computation Date (SCD) is a key date used by federal agencies to calculate an employee's benefits, such as annual leave accrual and retirement eligibility. It's often the date of an employee's first federal appointment but can be adjusted based on prior service (like military time, if a deposit has been paid) and other factors. Federal employees may have several different SCDs, with each one serving a specific purpose, such as leave accrual, retirement eligibility, or retention standing during a Reduction in Force (RIF).
