Hello there! The dollar is a very famous and popular United States one-dollar coin, known for its beautiful design and rich history. It gets its name from its designer, George T. Morgan, who was an Assistant Engraver at the U.S. Mint.
This silver dollar was originally minted from 1878 to 1904 and then again for one more year in 1921. More recently, the U.S. Mint began issuing them again starting in 2021 for collectors. The coin itself is considered a symbol of America's westward expansion and industrial development during the late 19th century.
The design is quite striking. The front, or obverse, features a profile portrait of Lady Liberty, who was modeled after a real person named Anna Willess Williams. The back, or reverse, of the coin depicts an eagle with its wings outstretched, holding arrows and an olive branch, which together symbolize war and peace. For collectors, the mint mark, indicating where the coin was made, can be found on the reverse side just below the wreath.
