To ensure optimal performance and safety when installing the Miele DAS 4640 Built-in Panel Extractor Hood, adhere to these guidelines. First, position the rangehood centrally above your cooktop, ensuring the cooktop isn't wider than the rangehood. For optimal vapour extraction, a narrower cooktop is recommended, especially if your safety distances are greater than 750 mm. The installation area must be easily accessible for maintenance. Use all provided installation materials, including the exhaust connection, non-return flap, mounting brackets, drilling template, spacer strip, and screws. Maintain the correct installation distance; the minimum distance between the cooking appliance and the rangehood varies. For electric cooktops, maintain a minimum distance of 600 mm (AU, NZ) or 450 mm (HK, MY, SG, TH, TW). Note that this rangehood is not compatible with gas cooktops. Use approved nonflammable materials for the exhaust ducting, and keep it as short and straight as possible, with wide radius bends. Avoid kinks or compressions to maintain efficient air extraction and minimize noise. Ensure the ducting is directed into the vent flue's flow direction, and use a non-return flap to prevent air exchange when the rangehood is off. Properly insulate the exhaust ducting to prevent condensation; install a condensate trap for horizontal ducting. For noise reduction, consider adding a silencer to the ducting system. Position it close to the ducting exit for extraction mode or between the exhaust connection and grille for recirculation mode. Finally, ensure the electrical connection complies with all national and local safety regulations, and avoid multi-socket adapters or extension cables. Using a residual current device (RCD) is recommended for added safety.
