Installing the BRANDMOTION 9002-7468 Tailgate Harness for your GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado requires a philips screwdriver and a drill. The installation is of moderate difficulty and typically takes between 1 to 1.5 hours. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Select and Install Camera Bracket:
- License Plate Bracket: Remove the license plate and connect the 90° LVDS connector to the back of the camera, ensuring the cable exits the housing correctly. Reattach the license plate securing bracket. Proceed to Part 3.
- Alternate Camera Mount Bracket: If using this bracket, remove the camera from the license plate bracket using a philips screwdriver. Use the surface mount bracket to mark and drill a hole for the LVDS cable. Secure the bracket to the body using the two outer holes. Run the cable through the center hole (do not use the 90° connector). Attach the 90° LVDS connector to the camera. Attach the camera housing to the bracket using screws and rubber washers.
- Video Connections: Disconnect the LVDS connector from the factory camera. Route the supplied LVDS cable to the factory connection. Plug the LVDS connector into the factory connector, ensuring it clicks into place. Secure the camera harness to the vehicle wiring to prevent damage.
- Test and Adjust: Verify all connections are secure. Remove any loose items. Turn the ignition on to test the system.
