Installing the Leviton T5325-SW tamper-resistant receptacle requires a careful approach. Begin by shutting off the power at your circuit breaker or fuse box. Confirm the power is off before proceeding. Next, prepare the wires: strip the insulation according to the gauge markings on the device (about 5/8 inch or 1.6 cm). Now, connect the wires to the receptacle terminals. The wiring diagram will guide you: connect the black (hot) wire to the brass terminal, the white (neutral) wire to the silver terminal, and the green or bare (ground) wire to the green terminal. Secure the wires by looping them clockwise around the terminal screws and tightening them to 14-18 in-Ibs. If using the Quickwire feature, insert #14 AWG solid copper or copper clad wires directly into the Quickwire holes. Note that Quickwire only accepts #14 AWG solid copper or copper clad wires. If your circuit uses #12 AWG wires, utilize the side wiring terminals instead. After connecting the wires, ensure all connections are firm. To remove wires from Quickwire terminals, insert a small screwdriver into the release slot. Finally, use the provided screws to mount the receptacle and attach your wallplate (not included). Restore power at the circuit breaker once everything is connected. If any step seems unclear, consult a qualified electrician for assistance.
