Switching between measurement modes on the UNI-T A63 2-in-1 Food Thermometer is straightforward. Here's how:
-
Powering On and Mode Selection:
- With the probe folded, press the "Scan|Hold" button to power on the thermometer. This activates the infrared (non-contact) mode.
- Unfolding the probe automatically switches the thermometer to probe (contact) mode.
- The thermometer conserves battery. It automatically powers off after one minute of inactivity in infrared mode (unless in Max/Min or T1/T2 states) or after ten minutes in probe mode or if in infrared mode while using Max/Min or T1/T2 functions.
- To re-activate the thermometer after auto-shutdown when the probe is unfolded, press the "Scan|Hold" button.
-
Taking Temperature Readings:
- Infrared Mode: Press and hold the "Scan|Hold" button to measure temperature. Release the button to stop measuring and hold the reading. The LCD will display in the top-left corner indicating the hold status.
- Probe Mode: When the probe is extended, the thermometer starts measuring immediately. Insert the probe at least 12.7mm into the food or object. Wait for the temperature reading to stabilize before noting the result. Press the "Scan|Hold" button, and the top-left of the LCD will display, holding the current reading. Press "Scan|Hold" again to resume continuous measurement.
