Setting up your Moultrie A-Series trail camera is straightforward. Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. Install Batteries: Open the camera and insert 8 AA Alkaline or Lithium batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) ends align with the markings inside the battery compartment. Always power off the camera when handling batteries.
2. Insert SD Card: Open the front cover and insert an SD memory card (up to 32 GB, not included). Push the card until you hear a click. Note that the camera needs an SD card to operate; Ultra/turbo SD cards are not recommended.
3. Power On: Slide the Mode Switch to the Setup position. The LCD Display will show the battery level, indicating the camera is on.
4. Mounting the Camera: Close the cover and mount the camera on a tree or pole, approximately 3 feet high. Use the provided strap through the slots on the camera's back. Angle the camera slightly downwards and clear any brush from the front to avoid false triggers.
5. Camera Setup Mode: Slide the power switch to ON. The camera will countdown then enter setup mode. Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to navigate the settings. The STATUS LED will illuminate briefly when motion is detected, assisting with camera aiming.
6. Set Time and Date: In Setup mode, the LCD will display the time. Press OK to adjust the time, year, month, and day using the UP/Down buttons. Press OK to confirm each selection.
7. Set Detection Delay: Press OK to adjust the detection delay, which is the time between pictures after an animal is detected. Choose between 0, 15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, or 5 min. Press OK to confirm.
8. Set Capture Mode: Use the UP/Down buttons to select your capture mode: 1 Photo/Low Resolution, 1 Photo/High Resolution, 3 Photos/Low Resolution, 3 Photos/High Resolution, or High/Low Video. Press OK to confirm.
9. Set Camera ID: Choose a number (1-9) with the UP/Down buttons to help identify your camera. Press OK to confirm.
10. Reset Picture Count/Erase Images/Format Card: Choose Yes or No using the UP/Down buttons, then press OK to confirm. This will also format your SD card.
