If your Rasonic handheld garment steamer is struggling to produce steam, mineral buildup (scale) might be the culprit. Here's how to effectively descale your steamer to restore its performance: First and foremost, safety is key. Unplug the appliance from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before starting. Empty any remaining water from the water tank. Next, prepare a descaling solution by mixing equal parts white vinegar and water. A total of about 80 ml of this solution should be sufficient. Carefully pour the vinegar-water solution into the water tank. Now, turn the steamer on in steam mode for about 5-6 minutes, then switch it off. Let the appliance sit and cool down for roughly 30 minutes. After the cooling period, carefully remove the drain plug and empty the solution from the water tank. Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water, drain it, and repeat until you no longer detect any vinegar odor. Finally, reassemble the steamer with the water tank and it's ready to use again. Regular descaling will help keep your Rasonic steamer in top condition and ensure consistent steam output for your garments.
