To ensure your E-flite Apprentice EFL370001 RC airplane is ready for flight, a range test is crucial. Here's how to perform one:
- Power Up the Transmitter: Start by powering on your transmitter with the throttle stick at its lowest setting. Allow it to initialize for at least 5 seconds.
- Connect the Aircraft Battery: Have an assistant hold the aircraft. Connect the aircraft battery to the ESC connector. Keep the aircraft stationary for approximately 5 seconds.
- Assume Flying Position: Face the model, holding your transmitter as you normally would during a flight.
- Initiate Range Check Mode: Press and hold the bind button (often labeled as button A) on your transmitter, and simultaneously toggle the HI/LO rate switch (switch F) up and down twice. The transmitter's RGB LED will flash, and an alarm will sound, signifying that the system is now in range check mode. Continue holding the bind button until the range check is complete.
- Test the Range: With the model securely held on the ground, move approximately 30 paces away from the airplane.
- Verify Control Surface Functionality: While at a distance, smoothly operate the transmitter's rudder, elevator, aileron, and throttle controls. Ensure that the control surfaces on the E-flite Apprentice respond correctly and without any issues. If any control problems are detected, it's essential to refrain from flying. Consult the Troubleshooting Guide for further guidance. If you require additional assistance, contact the Horizon Hobby Product Support team.
- Exit Range Check Mode: Once the range check is successfully completed, release the bind button to exit the range check mode. Your E-flite Apprentice is now ready for its maiden flight, assuming all controls function correctly.
