Keeping your Dyson cordless stick vacuum running at its best involves regular filter maintenance. Here's a simple guide to washing the filters:
- Safety First: Before you start, disconnect your Dyson vacuum from the charger. Be sure the power trigger isn't activated.
- Filter Identification: Your Dyson likely has two washable filters. We'll call them Filter A and Filter B.
- Washing Filter A: Locate Filter A, usually found at the top of the vacuum. Remove it carefully. Rinse Filter A under cold water until the water runs clear. Gently squeeze and twist the filter to remove excess water.
- Drying Filter A: Allow Filter A to air dry completely for at least 24 hours. Avoid using a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, microwave, or open flame to dry the filter.
- Refitting Filter A: Once dry, place Filter A back into its original position at the top of the appliance, ensuring it's properly seated.
- Washing Filter B: Find Filter B. Twist it anti-clockwise to unlock and remove it. Rinse Filter B under cold running water, rotating it to ensure all pleats are washed. Tap it against the side of the sink to remove debris. Repeat this rinsing and tapping process 4-5 times until clean.
- Drying Filter B: Stand Filter B upright, with the 'Max' button facing up, and let it dry completely for a minimum of 24 hours.
- Refitting Filter B: When dry, return Filter B to its position and twist it clockwise until it clicks into place.
For optimal performance, wash your Dyson filters at least monthly, or more frequently if you vacuum fine dust or use your vacuum often.
