Programming your GE QISMD-B1400 Backlit Universal Remote is straightforward. You can choose between Direct Code Entry and Auto Code Search. Here's how to program your devices:

Direct Code Entry (Recommended):

1. Find the Code List included with your remote. Locate the codes for your device type (e.g., TV, DVD player).
2. Circle all codes listed for your device's brand.
3. Press and hold the SETUP button on your remote until the red light illuminates.
4. Release the SETUP button. The red light stays on.
5. Press and release the device button (TV, DVD, etc.) for the device you are setting up.
6. The red light blinks once and stays on.
7. Use the number buttons to enter the first 4-digit code you circled.
8. The red light turns off after the fourth digit.
9. Point the remote at your device and test its functions. If it doesn't work, repeat steps 5-8 with the next code.

Auto Code Search:

1. Power on the device you want to control manually.
2. Press and hold the SETUP button on the remote until the red light turns on.
3. Release the SETUP button. The red light remains on.

5. The red light blinks once and stays on.
6. Point the remote at your device and press and release the POWER button. The remote will send 10 different codes.
7. The red light will blink once for each code and stay on after sending all 10.
8. Did your device turn off?
   • If YES, go to step 9.
   • If NO, repeat step 6 to test the next set of codes.
9. Manually turn your device back on.
10. With the remote pointed at the device, press and release the VOL+ button. This will resend the first code.
11. The red light blinks once and stays on.
12. Did your device turn off?
    • If YES, you've found the correct code. Press and release the same device button you used in step 4 to save the code.
    • If NO, keep pressing and releasing the VOL+ button until the device turns off to test other codes.
13. Test the remote's buttons to ensure they control your device correctly.
14. Repeat steps 4-13 for each device you want to set up.
