Mounting your Polk Audio DB572 marine speakers offers flexibility with both flush mount and surface mount options. Here's how to do it:
Flush Mount Instructions:
- Begin by marking the center of your desired mounting location and using a hole saw, drill bit, or razor knife, create a 2" (50.8mm) diameter hole.
- Assemble the flush mount cup, clamp, and machine screws loosely.
- Carefully route the speaker wires through the round opening found at the bottom of the cup.
- Press the assembly into the 2" (50.8mm) diameter hole until the clamp edge sits below the mounting surface. Then, tighten the screws. Note that you can bend the clamp's legs outward by inserting a screwdriver through the holes in the cup while it's still mounted.
- Using the provided faston connectors, connect the wires from the tweeter terminals on the crossover to the tweeter. Make sure the red wire from the (+) terminal on the crossover output connects to the red (+) wire from the tweeter.
- Finally, secure the tweeter by snapping it into the mounting cup.
Surface Mount Instructions:
- Use the base of the surface mount cup as a template to mark the screw hole locations. Drill these using a 1/8" (3mm) drill bit. Also, drill a second hole using a 3/16" (5mm) drill bit to accommodate the speaker wire.
- Attach the surface mount cup to the panel.
- Feed the tweeter wires through the open area at the bottom of the cup and then through the 3/16" (5mm) hole in the panel.
- Connect the wires from the tweeter terminals of the crossover to the tweeter wires using faston connectors, ensuring that the red wire strand from the tweeter is connected to the (+) terminal of the crossover tweeter output.
- Mount the tweeter by snapping it into the mounting cup.
