Starting a recording on your Olympus DS-3400 is straightforward. First, power on the recorder by pressing and holding the Power/Menu button until the device activates. Ensure the recorder is in Standby mode, indicated by a clock icon on the LCD screen. You can adjust the microphone sensitivity using the Mic Sensitivity button; cycle through Low, Medium, and High settings to suit your environment. Position the recorder near the sound source for the best audio quality. To start recording, press the REC button once, located on the device's front. The LCD screen will then display a recording indicator. Press the REC button again to pause; the screen will show a pause indicator. Resume recording by pressing REC once more.
