
To enter Field Programming mode on your VX-10 Yaesu Vertex Standard transceiver, follow these steps: First, remove the from the radio. Next, remove the NiCd battery advisory label located on the back of the radio. Then, remove the two screws that secure the keypad, but do not remove the keypad itself. Now, install the contact plate (part number R0152390), with the tabs facing down, under the keypad screws. Replace the NiCd battery advisory label and reattach the battery. Press and hold the Lamp, PTT, and Power buttons simultaneously. The radio will power up, perform a self-test (about a second), and display "* SET ". The radio is now ready for field programming. Use the channel selector to choose between programming categories: " SET ", " PROG ", and " MRCH *". In the SET category, press the A key to view the first setting. Follow the instructions to change each setting. In the PROG category, press the A key to view the first item. Make changes as you did in the SET category. In the MRCH (Memory Channel) category, press the A key to edit channels. Use the channel selector to choose the channel you want to edit and make your changes. After you have made all the changes you want in each category, press the B key to go back to the main menu (SET / PROG / MRCH). To exit Field Programming mode, turn off the radio, and then press and hold the PTT and Lamp buttons while turning the radio back on. The radio will start up in normal operating mode.
