It replaces the large-capacity battery with a smaller one, and the saved budget is used to fit in an engine and fuel tank. Although having multiple systems sounds complex, the engine is sourced from a mature supply chain, making the overall cost lower than the customized large battery of an EV. In terms of the manufacturing process, the DM has an advantage as the traditional powertrain can be produced on the same line as fuel vehicles. Additionally, in terms of market strategy, the DM's lower price targets consumers in third- and fourth-tier cities, while the EV mainly focuses on areas with license plate restrictions and driving bans. The later usage costs also reflect differences; DM maintenance requires attention to both the motor and the engine, making it more troublesome than the regular checks for pure electric vehicles.

Comparing the specifications, the key to the Han DM's lower price lies in its subtractive design. Compared to the EV version, the DM cuts nearly 70% of the capacity, and the savings from this far exceed the additional costs of the engine system.
