The ETC device is generally installed on the upper middle part of the front windshield for regular vehicles, while for large vehicles like trucks and buses, it is installed on the lower middle part. The suitable installation position should be no lower than 1.2 meters and no higher than 2.5 meters, with an installation angle between 30 to 90 degrees. For vehicles with anti-explosion film or those that have it installed later, it may affect the signal transmission of the microwave communication link, so it should be installed on the microwave sunroof strip. ETC stands for Electronic-Toll-Collection, meaning electronic toll collection system. To apply, you need to provide the original and photocopy of the vehicle owner's valid ID card and driving license. If the application is not made by the owner, the agent's valid ID card is also required. The photocopy of the driving license should include the page with the most recent annual inspection stamp. A bank card for deducting highway tolls is also needed, and the vehicle must be under the name of an individual aged between 18 and 60. For company vehicles, the required documents are: Introduction letter from the vehicle owner (with official seal); Copy of the organization code certificate or business license (with official seal); Original ID card of the agent; Original driving license of the vehicle; The vehicle that needs to apply for ETC. Here are some precautions for installing ETC: Do not block the view; it's best to install it behind the rearview mirror: Many car models have a large inclination angle of the windshield, resulting in a smaller driver's field of vision. If this is not considered when installing ETC, it will increase the driver's blind spots. Install it behind the rearview mirror on the right side to avoid blocking the view. Do not affect charging: The ETC electronic tag consumes power, but generally, it does not need to be charged or have its battery replaced because it has a solar panel on the back that can charge itself. Therefore, when installing, avoid the black areas on the windshield and do not install it in a position that may block the solar panel. Once installed, do not remove it casually: The button in the middle of the adhesive is an anti-removal lever, connected to a switch below. After the electronic tag is installed, the windshield will press the anti-removal lever in. If it is removed casually, the anti-removal lever will pop out and trigger the switch, locking the electronic tag and making it unusable. You will then need to go to an ETC service point to unlock it. This is designed to prevent multiple vehicles from sharing one device. When using ETC, note: The ETC transaction sensing area is 8 meters. To prevent the ETC device of the vehicle in front from malfunctioning, keep a distance of more than 10 meters from the vehicle in front to avoid automatic sensing and paying for the vehicle in front. The ETC lane recognizes the vehicle speed at 20 kilometers per hour. If the speed is too fast, the vehicle device information cannot be read, leading to a failed fee deduction. When using a debit card bound to ETC, insufficient balance will also cause the fee deduction to fail.

When I installed my own ETC, I paid attention to the placement. It's usually fixed on the front windshield, preferably in the upper-middle area near the rearview mirror. Avoid placing it directly behind the rearview mirror, as it can obstruct your view, or too close to the A-pillar, where the signal might be unstable. Choose a flat area where sunlight doesn’t directly hit the device to prevent high temperatures from affecting battery life. During installation, clean the glass with alcohol first and firmly attach the base. If you're unsure, visit an ETC service point and let professionals handle it—they prefer that spot because it ensures strong signal reception and minimal movement. When driving through toll stations, proper placement ensures quick detection, saving time and hassle. Remember to pick the right spot—poor signal might require a reinstall.

ETC devices are typically installed in the middle area at the top of the windshield. The position is crucial as it affects signal reception. If placed too low, it may fail to connect with toll station sensors, so it's best to align it with the front of the vehicle. Avoid installing it too low to prevent obstructing the driver's view and compromising safety. Use 3M adhesive to secure it on a flat surface, ensuring no wobbling after installation. In areas with significant temperature variations, be mindful that the glass surface may contract in cold weather, potentially causing looseness. From my personal experience installing it several times, a slightly right-off-center position also works well, but signal testing is necessary. Key considerations include avoiding strong magnetic fields like speakers, which can interfere with device operation. If you encounter frequent signal issues, check and adjust the positioning.

It is recommended to install it at the center of the upper end of the front windshield. Avoid placing it too close to the edge, which may result in weak signals or device malfunction. Personally, I suggest testing the sensing speed after fixing the position to avoid future troubles. If the windshield has a metal film, it may block the signal, so consider installing it on the side. Installation points vary slightly by vehicle model—sedans are usually in the middle, while SUVs, due to their higher position, can be placed slightly higher for better performance. DIY installation with adhesive is sufficient, just make sure not to make any mistakes.

The standard position for ETC installation is slightly above the center of the front windshield. This ensures unobstructed signal reception from toll stations. Incorrect positioning may cause delayed responses or card reader malfunctions. During installation, ensure the glass is clean and the adhesive is secure to prevent slipping or movement. Consider avoiding interference from in-car decorations like phone mounts. Proper positioning during use enhances passing efficiency, reduces queue time, and ensures the device's durability with fewer malfunctions.

What do N gear and P gear mean?

P gear is the parking gear; N gear is the neutral gear. More details about the gears are as follows: 1. N and P gears: When shifting into P gear, the parking lock mechanism locks the transmission output shaft; when shifting into N gear, i.e., neutral gear, the planetary gear system idles and cannot output power. 2. R gear: Reverse gear. When shifting into this gear, the hydraulic system's reverse gear oil circuit is engaged, causing the drive wheels to rotate in reverse for backward movement. Do not forcibly shift to "R" gear when the vehicle is not completely stopped, as this may damage the transmission. 3. D gear: Drive gear. When the gear shift lever is in this position, the hydraulic control system automatically engages the corresponding forward gear oil circuit based on throttle opening signals and vehicle speed signals, allowing automatic gear shifting according to driving speed changes to achieve automatic transmission functionality.

How Does the Shift Lock Button in Automatic Transmissions Work?

After shifting into P (Park) gear, it is impossible to shift into other gears without pressing the brake pedal. This is a safety feature designed by manufacturers, where the shift lock solenoid circuit is connected to the vehicle's computer. When the brake pedal is pressed, the computer signals the solenoid to unlock, allowing the gearshift to other positions. Below is some related information: 1. Automatic Transmission: As the name suggests, an automatic transmission does not require the driver to manually shift gears. The vehicle automatically selects the appropriate gear based on driving speed and traffic conditions. Typically, automatic transmission vehicles have six gear positions, arranged from top to bottom as: P (Park), R (Reverse), N (Neutral), D (Drive), S (Sport), and L (Low). 2. Fuel Consumption: The engine's power is transmitted through the transmission, which is also a key factor affecting fuel consumption. Generally, automatic transmissions consume over 10% more fuel than manual transmissions. Whether manual or automatic, transmissions with more gears tend to be more fuel-efficient.

To what extent can a car be submerged in water and still function normally?

An automobile can function normally when submerged up to the level of the exhaust pipe. Many car enthusiasts worry that water reaching the exhaust pipe may cause backflow, but in reality, the pressure generated by the engine's exhaust is substantial enough to expel any water that enters the exhaust pipe. Therefore, as long as the engine does not stall and the vehicle maintains sufficient and stable power, it can prevent water from backflowing into the exhaust pipe, allowing safe passage through waterlogged areas. Below is an introduction to some car insurance options: 1. Vehicle Damage Insurance: Covers losses due to natural disasters and accidents, recommended for new drivers. 2. Third-Party Liability Insurance: Compensates for third-party personal injury or death caused by the car owner, a mandatory purchase for protection of oneself and others. 3. No-Deductible Insurance: An additional insurance that transfers the car owner's liability to the insurance company, reducing the owner's losses. It is advisable to purchase this if both Vehicle Damage Insurance and Third-Party Liability Insurance are already in place.
