The Rongchang Expressway runs from Chengdu City in Sichuan Province to Qamdo City in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The Rongchang Expressway passes through Dujiangyan City, Wenchuan County, Li County, Barkam City, Luhuo County, Garze County, Dege County, and Jomda County, forming an east-west route composed of multiple sections that are completed, under construction, or planned. On January 13, 2005, the former Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China issued the 7918 Project for China's Expressway Network Plan, which defined the numbering rules for national expressway mainlines, regional ring roads, and branch lines. On June 20, 2013, the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China issued the National Highway Network Plan from 2013 to 2030, also known as the 71118 Project, which added several connecting lines, including the Rongchang Expressway, based on the 7918 Project.

I often drive on this expressway, which is a highway from Chengdu to Qamdo. As an experienced road-tripper, I think it's brilliantly designed, spanning over 300 kilometers. Heading west from Chengdu, it passes through places like Ya'an and Kangding, offering breathtaking scenery along the way—snow-capped mountains, grasslands, and rivers all within view. In the past, taking the national highway without an expressway would take six to seven hours, but now it's shortened to four or five hours, saving both time and fuel. Although the road is smooth, some mountainous sections have many curves, and the weather changes rapidly. I'd advise everyone to check their tires and brakes before setting off. The altitude rises quickly on the plateau, so it's good to bring some rhodiola to prevent altitude sickness. Since this expressway opened, tourism in Tibetan areas has boomed. Veteran drivers I know all say the drive is smooth, and there are Tibetan villages along the way where you can stop and experience the culture.

I was born in Sichuan, where the Rongchang Expressway runs right by my doorstep, connecting the cities of Chengdu and Chamdo. In the past, it took us two days of mountain roads to travel to Chamdo for trading goods. Now, with the expressway open, we can get there in just three or four hours, making business much more convenient. The road is paved with asphalt, spanning about 300 kilometers, passing through Ya'an and the Aba Prefecture, bridging the gap between urban and rural areas. At my age, I've witnessed the transformation of roads firsthand. The expressway has accelerated the transport of local agricultural products to Chamdo, boosting the economy. More young people are also driving for tourism, but road closures due to slippery conditions in winter snow are common. Everyone needs to check the radio for road updates before heading out and carry emergency supplies to avoid risky driving on the expressway. Overall, this road has given wings to the development of western Sichuan, speeding up the pace of life.

Just experienced the Rongchang Expressway. As a travel novice, it directly connects Chengdu to Changdu, spanning approximately 320 kilometers. Driving with friends was exhilarating, heading west all the way with picturesque scenery, traversing high mountains and valleys, and seeing the pastoral grasslands was particularly stress-relieving. The expressway saves time, being twice as fast as the old road, with few service areas but enough for refueling and rest. Remember to prepare some snacks and water in case of traffic jams; the altitude gets higher and higher, making dizziness likely, so just bring some oxygen tablets. The journey is smooth, suitable for beginners like me exploring the plateau, but it's more reliable to download a navigation app in advance to avoid missing exits. This expressway opens the mysterious door to Tibet, and after the trip, I already want to go for a second time.

Speaking of roads gets me excited. The Rongchang Expressway, designated as National Expressway G4217, connects Chengdu in Sichuan to Qamdo in Tibet. Spanning over 310 kilometers with a design speed of 80 km/h, it traverses the Hengduan Mountain range and features massive bridge-tunnel projects. Its significance lies in breaking the bottleneck of the southern Sichuan-Tibet route and promoting western development. Construction began in 2016, with basic completion achieved by 2021. While technologically advanced, high-altitude construction posed significant challenges. It's highly practical for road trips, offering a smoother ride compared to the old national highway and improving safety by about 30%. However, regular vehicle maintenance is essential, especially checking engine performance due to thin oxygen at high altitudes. Future extensions of this route will drive regional development, making it a crucial link in the transportation network.

I've taken my family on several self-drive trips along the Rongchang Expressway, which serves as the corridor from Chengdu to Chamdo. Stretching 300 kilometers with wide and smooth roads, it's effortless and worry-free for family car travel. Driving from the Chengdu Plain to the plateau, the ever-changing scenery outside the window offers constant surprises, with grasslands and snow-capped peaks perfect for family photo opportunities. It's advisable to plan rest stops in advance, such as stopping at Hailuogou to enjoy hot spring services. The expressway saves fuel and time, reducing the journey from eight hours to just five, making it easier for children to endure the ride. Be mindful of the unpredictable mountain weather—bring rain gear and anti-slip measures during the rainy season. In winter, roads may occasionally ice over, so fitting snow chains ensures safety. This route makes traveling to Tibet more accessible, and I recommend trying a short-distance experience with elderly family members and children.

What Causes Blackening of the Exhaust Pipe?

The reason for the blackening of the exhaust pipe is that the oil vapor does not burn completely, and some of it is carbonized when passing through the three-way catalytic converter. The accumulated carbon over time leads to the blackening of the exhaust pipe. Precautions for exhaust pipe maintenance include: 1. Close the choke when starting the engine cold in winter and open it promptly after the engine warms up; 2. Avoid installing windshields or decorative items in front of the engine and muffler as they may affect heat dissipation; 3. Avoid prolonged driving at high load in low gear, which can damage the engine and muffler; 4. Avoid revving the engine at high speeds while stationary for extended periods; 5. Clean the muffler surface promptly when it is covered with a large amount of mud or other dirt to prevent affecting heat dissipation; 6. Ensure the muffler gasket is properly installed and tightly secured during installation to prevent air leaks.

Where is the OBD interface of the old Bora?

Volkswagen Bora's OBD interface is located next to the battery in the engine compartment, used to connect to the car diagnostic computer. Through this interface, you can check the car's faults or modify the car's computer functions to unlock some hidden features. Additional information about the Volkswagen Bora's OBD interface is as follows: Function: The OBD on-board diagnostic system must have the ability to identify potential fault areas and store this information in the electronic control unit's memory in the form of fault codes. OBD is a system that monitors emission-related functions and components using hardware or software and alerts the driver through the MIL light and DTC fault codes for necessary inspection and repair. Precautions: The OBD interface should not be used indiscriminately. Some owners have connected a laptop to the OBD interface of the Bora 1.8T to test real-time data such as turbo performance, but unexpectedly encountered an issue. Due to the limited battery life of the laptop, it automatically shut down while the car was moving, causing the vehicle to stall at the moment the computer turned off, which is quite dangerous.

What are the effects of not changing the transmission oil for 200,000 kilometers in a Lavida?

The effects of not changing the transmission oil for 200,000 kilometers in a Lavida are as follows: Impact on clutch plate engagement: If the transmission oil is not replaced for a long time, metal shavings inside the transmission will accumulate. When they reach a certain level, they will affect the physical properties of the transmission oil, thereby impacting the engagement of the clutch plates and the operation of the gears. This leads to a significant reduction in clutch pressure and increased metal wear between the gears. Severe power loss: The eventual result is a severe drop in power, to the point where the car may not move even in D gear. At this stage, the drained transmission oil will contain a large amount of metal shavings. Transmission overheating: Besides lubrication, transmission oil also cools the transmission. Prolonged use of old oil will cause the transmission to overheat continuously. This heat further weakens the viscosity and lubricity of the transmission oil, creating additional friction. Components such as O-rings, gaskets, rubber seals, and other sealing parts in automatic transmissions may also deform or melt due to overheating.

Does the Lavida belong to FAW-Volkswagen or SAIC Volkswagen?

Lavida is independently developed by SAIC Volkswagen, so Lavida belongs to SAIC Volkswagen. The following are the differences between SAIC Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen: Product positioning: SAIC Volkswagen's car models are mainly positioned as mid-to-high-end vehicles, with well-known models such as Lavida and Passat, and their prices are naturally higher than those of FAW-Volkswagen. FAW-Volkswagen, on the other hand, focuses on mid-to-low-end vehicles, with popular models such as Jetta and Bora. Therefore, in terms of positioning, there are certain differences between the two. Different influence in the domestic market: SAIC Volkswagen was established in 1984, earlier than FAW-Volkswagen in 1991, which means SAIC Volkswagen entered the domestic market earlier. As a result, SAIC Volkswagen has left a deeper impression on Chinese consumers and has a better understanding of their needs compared to FAW-Volkswagen, so its influence in the domestic market is also higher than that of FAW-Volkswagen.

Is the Lavida door leakage related to the door frame sealing strip?

Is the Lavida door leakage related to the door frame sealing strip? The reasons for Volkswagen Lavida door leakage are as follows: Door disassembly: If the door has been disassembled, it can easily cause water leakage. You can check whether the drainage holes of the sunroof and the door are blocked. In the case of door disassembly, the waterproof plastic sheet can be replaced. Check the door sealing strip: Inspect whether the door sealing strip is aged or cracked, as poor sealing can also lead to water infiltration from the outside. Check for blockages in the sunroof and door: Examine whether the drainage holes of the sunroof and door are blocked. You can use a disposable chopstick, break it, and use the pointed end to poke the drainage holes at the bottom of the door to clear any blockages. Internal leakage may also be caused by the air conditioning drainage entering the car. Air conditioning drainage issues mainly occur when the drainage outlet is blocked, preventing water from flowing out of the car, causing it to overflow from the gaps in the evaporator box into the car. For such cases, the owner must go to a repair shop to have the maintenance personnel conduct fault detection and troubleshooting.
