Basically, I only flip it into L when I'm going down that huge hill near my neighborhood. You know the one—it's really steep and long. Instead of riding the brake the whole way down, which my dad always said was bad for the car, I shift into L. The car slows down on its own, and I don't have to touch the brake pedal. It feels safer, especially if the roads are wet. For everything else, I just leave it in Drive.
