What to Do If Your Driver's License Renewal Is One Month Late?

If your driver's license renewal is overdue by one month, you can apply for an extension. However, if the renewal is overdue by more than one year, the driver's license will be revoked. The maximum extension period is three years. During the extension period, the driver is not allowed to operate a motor vehicle. The process for renewing an expired driver's license is as follows: 1. Fill out the "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form," which requires your signature, and provide the original driver's license along with your personal identification documents. 2. Submit your identity proof (original and photocopy). If you cannot appear in person, you must submit a jointly signed application form by both the applicant and the proxy, along with their identity proofs (original and photocopy). 3. Obtain a medical fitness certificate from a county-level or higher medical institution (or a military hospital at the regimental level or above). For applicants applying for a disabled-specific small automatic passenger vehicle license, the medical certificate must be issued by a specialized medical institution designated by the provincial health authority. 4. Provide three recent passport-sized color photos of the applicant, taken within six months before the application. The photos must feature a front-facing, bareheaded, half-length portrait with a white background and no formal attire.
