What to Do About Minor Oil Leakage at the Engine Cylinder Head Gasket?
1 Answers
Minor oil leakage at the engine cylinder head gasket requires replacement of the gasket. The replacement method is as follows: 1. Remove the valve cover and gasket. 2. Remove the valve rocker assembly and take out the valve push rods. 3. Loosen and remove the cylinder head bolts in three steps, starting from both ends towards the middle in a symmetrical order. After removal, take off the cylinder head and gasket, and clean any debris from the contact surfaces of the cylinder block and cylinder head. 4. Install the new cylinder gasket with the smooth side or the side with wider flanges facing the cylinder block; if it's a cast iron cylinder block with an aluminum cylinder head, do the opposite. 5. When installing the cylinder head, first position it correctly using the locating bolts. Hand-tighten the other cylinder head bolts before removing the locating bolts, then install the cylinder head bolts. 6. Reinstall the valve push rods and valve rocker assembly in their original positions. After checking and adjusting the valve clearance, install the gasket and valve cover.
