What is the normal engine oil consumption?

National automotive authorities consider: 0.3 liters per 1,000 kilometers of oil consumption as the recommended standard, which is normal consumption; 0.3-1 liters per 1,000 kilometers is considered minor oil burning. More information about engine oil is as follows: 1. Engine oil lubricates the pistons, piston rings, and cylinders. When a piston engine operates, there is a layer of oil film on the cylinder walls, and part of this oil film is burned off by the high-temperature combustion gases during the combustion of the air-fuel mixture. 2. Engine oil is also used to lubricate the intake valve stems and can be drawn into the combustion chamber. High-temperature exhaust gases similarly consume the oil used to lubricate the exhaust valves. 3. As the engine operating time increases, the oil vapors produced by high-temperature oxidation in the engine are drawn into the combustion chamber through the crankcase ventilation valve and burned.
