
After parking the car, turn off the engine and locate the reset button on the upper part of the steering wheel. The reset button is positioned at the lower section of the instrument panel, labeled as [0 Use your left hand to continuously hold down the [0.0] reset button, then turn on the ignition switch to start the engine. Keep holding the reset button until the message "Confirm to reset the service data?" appears on the instrument panel display, then release the reset button. Press the [0.0] reset button once again, pressing it once is sufficient. Check whether the maintenance light has been reset. If not, you must start the process from the beginning.

Last time I helped my neighbor reset the light on his 2020 Lavida, I found the manual reset process quite simple. First, turn off the ignition and power. Then press and hold the 0.0 button on the instrument panel without releasing. Next, turn the key to power on (but don't start the engine), at which point a prompt will appear on the dashboard. Continue holding the 0.0 button until the display area changes to dashes, then release the button and turn off the power. Wait about half a minute before restarting the car, and the maintenance reminder will disappear. Note that older Lavida models and some newer ones have different button locations - if you can't find it in the manual, checking car forums will surely yield tutorials. My neighbor followed this method and got it done in two minutes, saving a trip to the repair shop.

There are three methods to reset the light for Lavida in our workshop. The first method is the conventional 0.0 button approach: turn off the ignition, hold the button, power on the vehicle, continue pressing when the maintenance message appears until the reset is successful. The second method uses the steering wheel menu: press CAR to enter vehicle settings, locate the maintenance option, and confirm the reset. The third and most reliable method involves using a diagnostic tool to access the 17-instrument module and modify the reset data. Personally, I advise those who are not confident in their hands-on skills to avoid forcing the instrument buttons. Accidentally entering the engineering menu and altering parameters could lead to issues. Last time, a client triggered a tire pressure warning by operating it themselves, resulting in an extra 300 yuan spent to clear the fault code.

The high-end version with steering wheel buttons is much simpler. Just start the vehicle by pressing the ignition button, then enter the menu using the multifunction button on the right side of the steering wheel. Navigate to the option in the settings, select the reset cycle, and press the confirm button to complete the process. The whole procedure takes less than 20 seconds, far more convenient than crawling into the dashboard to find a tiny button. However, owners of the base version still need to follow the old method. It's recommended to add a steering wheel reset function in the next facelift.

The safest method, even repair shops do it this way. Connect an ODIS diagnostic tool to the OBD port, enter the special functions menu, and select reset cycle. The Launch X431 I use also works—select Volkswagen models, enter the instrument control system, and perform the reset operation, done in ten seconds. Although it requires equipment, it's less prone to errors, especially suitable for cars that failed to reset after maintenance. Once, a client’s maintenance cycle got messed up after an external service, and it was finally calibrated back using a diagnostic tool.

If you want to save trouble, just drive directly to the 4S dealership. Tell the after- service that the maintenance light didn't go off after the service, and the technician will fix it in two minutes with a computer without charging. However, I've found that some shops tend to be lazy and reset it manually, resulting in inaccurate calculation of the next service interval. It's recommended to watch them connect to the computer and update the maintenance records in the system to ensure reliability. By the way, you can also check if there are any hidden trouble codes, so the money spent is not wasted.
