What is the method for adjusting valve clearance in a gasoline engine?

When adjusting the valve clearance, the piston must be at the top dead center of the compression stroke; otherwise, the valve will be held by the rocker arm, making it impossible to adjust the clearance. When rotating the crankshaft, the rise and fall of a screwdriver can be used to determine whether the top dead center has been reached. At the top dead center of the compression stroke, both valves are in the closed position. The gap between the adjusting screw end face on the rocker arm head and the top surface of the valve stem is the valve clearance.
