
Common exclusions in long-term care policies include pre-existing conditions, mental and nervous disorders (with some exceptions), alcoholism and drug addiction, intentionally self-inflicted injuries, and care provided in government facilities. Also typically omitted from coverage are acts of war along with attempted suicide, including any services already provided under other government programs like Medicare.
