It's a booster seat, plain and simple. But don't just buy one and assume you're done. You have to make sure your kid is ready both in size and behavior. Can they sit still? The booster positions the seat belt, but it can't force them to stay put. We used a high-back booster until my daughter was about 7, then switched to a backless one for easier transport.
