NIO uses audio systems produced by Suzhou ShangSheng Electronics for NIO. Although this is not a well-known brand, the audio performance in NIO cars is still excellent. Car audio (auto-audio): An audio playback device installed to alleviate the monotony of travel for drivers and passengers. The earliest versions used car AM radios, later evolving to AM/FM radios, cassette players, and eventually CD players compatible with DCC and DAT digital audio. Functions of car audio: Modern car audio systems have reached high standards in sound quality, operation, and vibration resistance, capable of handling the bumps on rough roads while ensuring stable performance and perfect sound quality.
NIO's audio systems vary across different models. I particularly love the one in my ET7, which was co-developed with Dolby Laboratories—a 7.1.4-channel system with 23 speakers hidden throughout the car, including sound units in the headrests. Last time I took a friend for a test drive and played 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' the vocals seemed to float down from above the windshield while the drumbeats vibrated up from beneath our feet. My friend was so amazed they kept slapping their thighs. Although the ES8 and ET5 don’t have Dolby certification, their standard surround sound systems are more than enough for daily listening to Jay Chou’s music. Crucially, they support Bluetooth 5.2 for lossless audio transmission, so even playing Apple Music’s Spatial Audio from a smartphone doesn’t miss a beat.
