Advantages: Can avoid some traffic accidents caused by driver errors, and reduce occurrences of drunk driving, reckless driving, etc., thereby effectively improving road traffic safety; can find the optimal acceleration, braking, and deceleration methods through its control system, effectively improving fuel efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas and harmful exhaust emissions, making it more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient; gives drivers more free time, meaning they no longer need to focus intently on road conditions but can use this time freely to do what they want; relying on autonomous vehicles, vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled with limited mobility need not worry about transportation inconveniences, also aiding the further development of social welfare. Disadvantages: Safety cannot be fully guaranteed. With current technological levels, intelligent systems are difficult to surpass human judgment and cognitive abilities, so there is still a long way to go before completely entrusting driver and passenger safety to autonomous driving systems; autonomous driving technology heavily relies on satellite navigation technology. Once the signal is interfered with or interrupted, autonomous driving becomes impossible; the autonomous driving system itself carries certain risks. If there are vulnerabilities (like computer operating systems), there is a risk of being hacked; once autonomous driving technology is approved, transportation companies will undoubtedly be the first to adopt it, leading to mass unemployment of drivers.

These systems too heavily on technology, with poor recognition in rain or fog, and are prone to malfunctioning when dirty or affected by strong light. When an accident occurs, who is responsible? The driver, the car manufacturer, or the software provider? The unclear liability makes legal disputes complicated. With traditional driving, I have the steering wheel in my hands and can rely on experience to avoid obstacles in critical moments, but machines only follow programmed instructions and can't handle sudden situations like a child darting out. Additionally, system updates require an internet connection, and nothing can be done in areas with poor signal. Without resolving these risks, I wouldn’t dare use such technology casually—it’s a matter of life and safety.

As a tech enthusiast, I find the technical shortcomings of autonomous driving quite evident. Sensors are prone to obstruction or contamination, affecting accuracy. Software algorithms have vulnerabilities; hackers can alter control commands after an attack, creating safety hazards. System upgrades entirely on network connectivity, leading to functional failures in signal dead zones. Edge scenarios, such as complex intersections, are poorly handled due to incomplete preset logic coverage. Additionally, costs remain high—repairing sensors and computer systems isn't cheap. These issues hinder widespread adoption and compromise consumer experience. I must say the current stage falls short of the marketed perfection, with real-world challenges aplenty.

From a societal perspective, the drawbacks of autonomous driving are significant. The replacement of driver positions could trigger unemployment waves affecting livelihoods. Data collection raises privacy concerns, with location trajectories vulnerable to misuse or leaks. frameworks lag behind technological advancements, with new regulations potentially conflicting with conventional driving habits. These changes disrupt economic structures, and declining household incomes may lead to cascading issues. Traffic order could face temporary chaos requiring adaptation periods. I worry this may exacerbate social inequality and heighten public anxiety.

From an economic perspective, the initial purchase cost of autonomous vehicles is prohibitively expensive, making it unaffordable for the average person. costs are high, with precision components being prone to damage and difficult to repair. How will insurance rates be determined? Ambiguity in accident liability leads to increased premiums and higher expenses. This makes autonomous vehicles even less accessible to low-income families, widening the wealth gap. Increased reliance on technology adds to the risks, and slow market adoption affects industry balance. It seems the price barrier is too rigid, and the cost-performance ratio isn't favorable.

Our family uses the car frequently, and autonomous driving often encounters issues in real-world scenarios. For example, when picking up or dropping off kids near schools where it's crowded, the system freezes and responds sluggishly. When encountering unanticipated events like road flooding during heavy rain, it just stops and refuses to move. Children don't learn emergency handling skills and develop lazy habits by relying on machines. During parking, inaccurate positioning often leads to hitting curbs. Also, software updates during long trips interrupt journeys. These inconveniences are frustrating and disrupt daily routines.
