Is Wuling a Domestic or Joint Venture Brand?

Wuling is a domestic brand. The models under Wuling include: Hongguang MINIEV, Wuling Capgemini, Wuling Hongguang S3, Wuling Hongguang PLUS, Wuling Hongguang, etc. Taking the 2020 Wuling Hongguang as an example, it belongs to the microvan category with body dimensions of: length 4390mm, width 1660mm, height 1750mm, a wheelbase of 2720mm, a fuel tank capacity of 50L, and a curb weight of 1185kg. The 2020 Wuling Hongguang features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a leaf spring non-independent rear suspension. It is equipped with a 1.2L naturally aspirated engine, delivering a maximum horsepower of 76PS, a maximum power of 56kW, and a maximum torque of 110Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Wuling Motors, I know it's our domestic Chinese brand, but the company that produces it, SAIC-GM-Wuling, is a joint venture formed by China's SAIC Group, America's General Motors, and Liuzhou Wuling. Headquartered in Guangxi, it produces models like the affordable and reliable Hongguang MINIEV electric vehicle. Having driven several models, I find them highly practical, especially popular in urban-rural fringe areas. Wuling products are entirely designed and manufactured domestically, tailored for the Chinese market, and have recently been exported to Southeast Asia and Africa with consistently high sales. As an automotive enthusiast, I believe it represents the growth of China's automotive industry, benefiting from both joint venture technological support and localization advantages. In daily use, Wuling carries the label of a pure domestic vehicle, offering reassuring cost-performance and reliability. Its history dates back to the 1980s, gradually developing series like microvans and trucks, reinforcing its domestic identity. Despite the complex corporate structure, from a user's perspective, it's a source of national pride.
