Is REAR the Heated Rearview Mirror Switch?
1 Answers
REAR is the defogging and heating switch for the rear window and rearview mirrors. Pressing it can remove fog from the rear windshield, and some REAR buttons can also heat the rearview mirrors. Nowadays, many car models omit the REAR label entirely, replacing it with a square frame and an upward wave icon. The heated rearview mirror function is particularly useful during rainy or snowy weather. When activated, the heater behind the mirror quickly warms the surface, gradually removing rainwater or fog, eliminating the need for drivers to manually wipe the mirrors frequently and thus reducing driving hazards. Causes of car window fogging: Due to the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the car, windows are prone to fogging. The window glass, being in contact with the outside, remains cooler, causing water vapor inside the car to condense on the glass, forming fog. When the window temperature is below the dew point, given a certain air humidity, condensation easily forms on the window surface, leading to fogging on the front windshield. If there is a temperature difference between the two sides of the window, the side with the lower temperature will have a lower saturated vapor pressure than the surrounding environment, causing water vapor to gather on the glass surface and form tiny droplets, resulting in fog. Defogging Principle: Copper wires are embedded in the rear windshield. When there is moisture or fog on the rear windshield, an electric current heats these copper wires. The heated windshield then disperses the fog. According to current car rear windshield defogging designs, the heating function automatically turns off after about 10 minutes to protect the heating elements. The car air conditioning system is designed to cool, heat, ventilate, and purify the air inside the cabin. The car air conditioning controller is a device that regulates the air conditioning system, providing cooling, ventilation, and defrosting functions. All components are securely installed, with controls and operating mechanisms that are flexible and easy to use, ensuring safe and reliable performance.
