I've dealt with this on my old truck. The fix is usually pretty straightforward. Get a can of brake cleaner and some brake lube from any auto parts store. Pull the wheels off, spray everything down to get rid of all the black dust, and then put a dab of that special lube on the back of the brake pads and the metal clips they slide on. 9 times out of 10, that shuts them up. If the pads look really thin, though, it's time for new ones.
