First, mainly check the depth, lightly clean the surface of the scratch, and consider the dry and wet conditions. Use a fine brush dipped in varnish to fill the scratch, and dry it unconditionally if necessary. Carefully flatten it with a cutting paper knife, then level it with 800-grit sandpaper, wash and dry it, and finally spray paint.

Last time my Teana also had the issue of the dashboard leather cracking. First, I used leather cleaner to wipe off the grease around the cracks, then carefully filled the cracks with special leather repair paste using a small scraper. When it was semi-dry, I used a heat gun on low setting to slowly heat and set it, and finally matched the color with a color chart and sprayed it. It took me two weekends, but I saved 2000 yuan in repair costs. The key is to apply the leather repair paste in thin layers multiple times, with 4-hour intervals for drying each time, so the repaired surface is less likely to crack again. If the crack is over 3 centimeters, it's better not to bother with DIY and just replace the panel directly.

The treatment for cracks in the Teana's center console depends on the severity. For minor hairline cracks, using a leather repair pen to cover them is recommended, costing around 20 yuan. For moderate cracks, purchasing a car interior repair kit, such as the imported American three-piece set that includes cleaning, filling, and coloring materials, is advisable, and the operation is straightforward. If the entire leather piece is peeling or curling up, it's best to go to an auto repair shop for reupholstering or directly replace the original panel, with the latter costing approximately 2500-3500 yuan. To prevent such issues, it's best to avoid direct sunlight on the center console when parking, as prolonged exposure makes the leather brittle. I always keep a sunshade in my car, which works well.

Dashboard repair can be divided into physical and chemical methods. The physical approach involves replacing the entire panel, but requires dismantling the whole dashboard which is labor-intensive. For chemical repair, polyurethane resin adhesive yields the best results. First, use 800-grit sandpaper to smooth rough edges, then apply adhesive and flatten it with weights for 12 hours. The repair is successful only when no height difference can be felt by touch. I also reinforced the crack by applying fiber cloth on the backside for added stability. When parking, try to choose underground garages where temperature fluctuations are minimal to prevent cracking.
