How to Adjust Car Headlights?

The method to adjust car headlights is as follows: 1. Start the car, wait for the dashboard to light up, locate the car's light button, and then turn on all the vehicle's lights; 2. Drive the car in front of a wall, carefully observe the image of the car lights on the wall to determine the height of the lights. If the height difference is not obvious, the owner can also use a ruler to measure it; 3. Return to the driver's seat and find the button to open the front hood; 4. Set a horizontal standard based on the observed light image, then locate the screw button for adjusting the height of the lights; 5. For the side with higher lights, turn the height adjustment button counterclockwise while keeping an eye on the changes in the light image on the wall until it aligns with the set horizontal standard. For the side with lower lights, use a tool to turn the adjustment button clockwise, observing the changes until the light image aligns with the horizontal standard.
The adjustment for my own car's headlights is done after opening the hood. There are two sets of adjustment bolts at the back of the headlights—one controls the vertical angle, and the other handles the horizontal alignment. It's best to adjust them at night by facing a wall. Park the car straight a few meters away from the wall, then slowly turn the screws while observing the position of the light beam. Avoid setting it too high, as it may blind oncoming drivers. Some cars also have an interior adjustment knob near the steering wheel, which is much more convenient and allows for fine-tuning the height while driving. If the car has an automatic leveling function, there's no need to worry—the sensor will adjust the beam angle based on road conditions. However, for older cars with manual adjustment, it's recommended to check periodically, as rough roads over time may cause the light alignment to shift.
