Thirty seconds, max. My dad always told me to let it run for ten minutes, but that's for old cars. My mechanic confirmed that with today's engines, you're just burning gas and not doing the car any favors. I just start it, scrape the windows if I need to, and then take it easy for the first couple of blocks. The heater actually starts blowing warm air quicker that way, too.
